My good friend Tammy and I couldn't pass up a trip to Green Tangerines with our %25 off coupons! I was able to spend under $20, that was an accomplishment! I found lots of beautiful, colorful vintage paper that I had to get. Tammy surprised me with this awesome stamp set, which included the butterfly above! I couldn't wait to use it! I cleaned up my craft area and was ready to get back to being creative!

Torendi Blog Hop Challenge

Torendi had an awesome blog hop the other day, along with a fun little challenge. The idea was to take a project from the blog hop and become inspired and make your own project. I chose Jenn's project from Double N Designs. Her projects are always so fun! You may think, where did I get my inspiration...well, I had these Christmas sticker tags from EAD Designs, and I thought, I must use them up before the season is over! I cut the tops off the tags, and attached them to the some craft paper. I really like the way that Jenn incorporated patterned washi tape with the solid red color and the snowflakes. So, I busted out my new tissue tape from Tim Holtz and managed to find a snowflake brad to add! You should head over to the Torendi blog hop to see what you can create from all the great ideas!

Its been so long since I have crafted. Working long hours, getting a new job, working two jobs, and now finally things have calmed down. I start my new job, full time, on Monday. I had to celebrate with a trip to the craft store and finally found the Garden Variety/Material Girl Paper Pack. I had nothing planned today, but card making and yoga! Pretty nice plans for this beautiful Saturday! I adore this paper, and I figured that Wee Memories Challenge #31 would be the perfect start to getting back to crafting! My goodies from E.A.D have arrived...which included these super cute Christmas Tags. I am not too much of a Clean and Simple kind of girl, so I figured I should go with the Tag element of the challenge at Wee Memories this week. The tags are actually supposed to be gift tags, but I figured, why not use them on a card! I used some brads and string to give them the feel of stockings hanging from the fireplace (hence the red brick background!!!) Hope you enjoy!

I have to admit, I am actually not ashamed to post my first challenge card! The idea of this challenge at Tsuruta Designs was to flashback and remember the first challenge you ever did. Mine was for the EAD Color Challenge called Plum Shabby, not too long ago (June). Ever since then I have been addicted to challenges. I feel like i usually cant go without entering some challenge for every card I make! I have only been paper crafting for about 2 1/2 years and feel I am slowly finding out my style! When I saw this challenge at Wee Memories...I couldn't resist! I bought these adorable Halloween rubons at a craft sale for $1 (Cosmo Cricket) and I knew they would be perfect! Entangled in the (make believe spider web!) is an orange scalloped frame that I i snagged at Torendi (check them out....super fun stuff!) I wanted to use all three elements...scallops, string, and orange, and I think I pulled it off. My sister's favorite holiday is Halloween and I can't wait to send this to her! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend...I know I am looking forward to yoga and crafting!

I loved this color combo! I tried to match the peacock color as much as possible and the picture doesnt really do the color justice! The birdie and tree branch are EAD rubons, which i absolutely adore! I found the beautiful cranberry colored paper as part of a mat pack at Marshalls (Anna Griffin). I just had to incorporate my brick background stamp from Tim Holtz (I am addicted to that stamp). To all my followers...thank you for always stopping by! Hair Accessories....Really....Are you serious! I had no ideas at all! I stumbled into my bathroom and attempted to rummage through all my hair accessories. And what did I find...A whole lot of rubber bands. I grabbed the most colorful ones, and sat down and stared at them for a long while! I finally came up with making a few shapes using the brads. After some debating on what to do with that, i think i went through every embellishment possible, before I found my joy ride chipboard! Finally it all came together! The picture didnt turn out as good as I had hoped, because there is a lot of glare off the chipboard! Anyways...hop on over to Everything but the Kitchen Sink and see what you can do! I dare you!

I just adored this color combo from OTWC! I found the Martha Stewart ribbon at Marshalls...who knew that they randomly carry crafting items and for really cheap! I searched for another sketch to find something new and exciting...that's where I found Unscripted Sketches. Their design team had some really cute cards, so I figured I would join in on the fun! Wee Memories Challenge #19

This card was a blast to make! It took me a lot longer than I had imagined! My friend Jenn sent me the adorable candy stamp and sentiment! I stamped the candies, colored them, and then used the glossy accents to make them shine! They almost look good enough to eat! ;) I made the barrel from some corrugated cardboard, then covered it with my washi tape from Torendi. I just can't get enough of the tape, its my new staple. This challenge (Wee Memories #19) was to use sweets....and ribbon! For the stripes on the barrel, I used brown ribbon and added some tiny brads. I used my Tim Holtz brick stamp (AGAIN!!!) for the yellow background! I think it came together nicely! Hop on over to the challenge and check out all the fabulous projects! I had been debating on doing this challenge (Off the Wall Craftiness #21), but once I got started, I couldn't stop! :) The paper I used is a variety of different brands! I broke into my EAD Designs rubons and used those for my sentiments! I just cant get enough of my brick stamp by Tim Holtz! Its been so nice to have the day off (I did work almost three hours)! I have been crafting away for hours...now I just need to get motivated to post my stuff for sale. Just seems like a lot of work! ;) Happy Thursday ya'll~

I had so much fun doing this challenge (EAD Designs Color Challenge)! The color combo was so unique and I had no idea how I was going to pull it off! For this card I used my new Ultimate Grunge stamps by Tim Holtz, Earth Love chipboard by Cosmo Cricket, Washi Tape from Torendi, and the cloud paper that I bought from CTMH. Happy Saturday to everyone! I started my day with a trip to a massive craft garage sale. I got some really good deals and I can't wait to start using some of the fun stuff I bought! But why stop there! I headed to Michaels and Joanns too! So now that I am relaxing, I thought I would finish this card that I started yesterday! I can't believe it.....Another challenge with PINK! :) This Off The Wall Craftiness Challenge #19 was to use the above colors, pink, yellow, and green. I decided to use my new set of Tim Holtz stamps (Ultimate Grunge) that I bought from Scrap Lovers online. I absolutely love the way that the brick background turned out! Another challenge with Pink....surprise, surprise! :) I really wanted to roll with the argyle pattern but I didn't have any paper that even resembled it! Instead, i found one of my EAD flower rubons, and decided to design my card around that. The stamp set that I used for the background is from SU and it is one that I have used many many times! I seem to be on a roll with challenges this evening! I have been hoarding this adorable paper (Splendor Paper Packet) ever since I ordered it from CTMH. I used the Get Sketchy Challenge #49 for the layout of my card. I am in love with clouds and they seem to be pretty trendy now days too! The wood button was in my jar of buttons and I think it may have been from one of my old coats. I thought it worked perfectly for the center of my flower and for the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge #20. I was also super excited to use this new Japanese tape that I ordered from Torendi (a great online store that sells the most interesting and fun items). I made this card for two different challenges (Everything but the Kitchen Sink 19 and OTWC #16). I bought this package of fabric stickers months ago when Green Tangerines went out of business :( and I had no clue what I would ever use them for! Let's just say pink isn't my favorite color, so I had to go digging deep in all my drawers to pull this rabbit out of the hat! The sentiment didn't turn out as dark as I wanted, but no card can be perfect, right! Hope you like it!

I have just been loving the color combos on the OTWC Challenges. I decided really make things difficult for myself and use two different challenges for this one card (OTWC Challenge #15 & Limelight Sketch #51). I was asked to create a gift for a friend's daughter's teacher that is going to lose her job at the end of the school year...which is a few days away! With only words to describe what the teacher means to each of the students, a monkey theme and a class photo, I had to come up with something clever! I used this program online called Wordle, in which you enter a bunch of words and it makes a little montage! It's very fun! I wanted to think of something a little bit more grown up for the parents to express their thoughts, so i decorated a mini album, and left the pages blank inside for them to write on! I was very happy how it all turned out and I hope the teacher loves it!

I decided to try out this new technique that I found in the CTMH catalog. The flower is made out of eight circles (double sided paper) that have been folded to give the flower dimension. It was a lot of fun and very easy!

With my new camera in hand, I decided to drive down the street to this beautiful church that I pass everyday. As I was taking pictures of the outside, a little old lady drove up and got out of her car. She asked me how I was and if I would like to come inside. I took a chance...not being religious...and followed her inside. Wow I was in for a surprise. She even told me to start taking pictures! It was one of the most beautiful churches that I have ever seen. The pictures do not do it justice. She explained to me that one of the stained glass windows she purchased and dedicated to her son who died when he was only 18. My heart just dropped. She was so sweet! It was a neat experience and I got some great pics!

Scrapbook Expo

My friend Nina and I decided to head over to the Scrapbook Expo today in Sacramento at the Convention Center. Good thing we got there early...because it started to get packed with crazy ladies. I got a bunch of stuff, but wondered where all my money went! I am done for the month....I can't believe I am saying this, but i have too much stuff! :) It was a cool experience and I think I will make sure I start saving now, for next years! :)

I made this gift for my friend Stacy a long time ago. I took a picture of us and manipulated it in photoshop. I printed it on different color papers. I dipped the papers in liquid starch to give it an artsy vintage feel. I also cut out the borders and added them on. After it was dried, kind of crumply, i mounted it on a piece of purple mat, then framed it.

These are two pieces that I made a long time ago, that hang in my bathroom. I am always intrigued by advertisments in magazines. I went through and cut out a bunch of patterns from all different magazines. I put the patterns together kind of like a quilt, then I used a clear apoxie (clear glue) that i painted on over the whole thing. After it dried, I framed each one. My favorite is the bottom one...in the middle, it says "As the mind clears, the eyes see more" I love this saying!

On Friday October 9th Dave and I attended Star Wars in Concert. It was amazing. They had a huge screen showing parts from the movie, and the orchestra played music from the movie. The screen was huge and so clear, very neat. The music was amazing too. Thanks to working at Arco I was able to get great seats. I am glad I got to share that moment with Dave. He was so stoked, and that just made my night! Of course we couldn't get out of there without him buying a program, shirt and a coffee mug!!!!

Dave's Daughter's Birthday Card

It's been awhile since I have posted anything. Since Dave was in the process of moving in, my craft area was being rearranged! Its now set back up and ready for me to put it to use. The first thing that i did was to make Sherilyn, Dave's daughter, a birthday card for her 13th. I got some great string from a coworker, and had to use it on this card. I used rubons which you can barely see. They are in the circles and say happy birthday. I also used some acrylic letter stamps that I got at Green Tangerines. I think it turned out cute, I just hope she likes it.

Baby Shower Gift

One of my best friends is having a baby in Oct. Her shower was this last weekend, and I decided that I didn't want to give the typical gift, so i opted for something a little more creative. Her main color in the baby's room is a cream color, and her scondary color is plum. It took me forever to find the right colored paper but i found all the paper at Michaels. I used my cricut to cut out the shapes, and got the letters and shoes at Michaels. For the tag, I stamped it with a SU set (I don't remember the name). The ink i used was Tim Hotlz distressed Dusty Concord and Frayed Burlap. I got the frame at Aaron Brothers, which was a great deal! It was a really fun project to do, and the reward of her loving it was even better!

Cricut Time!

I finally broke down and purchased the small Cricut! It was on sale...half off...who can beat that! I have used it a few times so far and i love it! It's so worth it. No more hours of cutting those perfect squares and circles...just the touch of a button now! I am still learning how to use it, as it is a little tricky! Just wanted to share my exciting news! Now the hard part.....resisting the purchases of all the cartridges! :) If anyone has any tips...send them my way! :)

Marlena was always the best at making sure everyone got copies of whatever pics she took. These pictures just say it all....and yes they are all of me! Its amazing how many times I change my hair cut and color! This page really captures the fun of the time we shared as roommates! Don't forget the brads! hehe! :)

Metallica Pages

After sitting slooking at these pages, month after month, I finally finished them. Dave and I were lucky enough to be invited to a special Metallica rehersal concert at The Cow Palace in SF. This was thier rehersal for thier current tour. It was a suprise for Dave and boy was he excited! I have learned after doing this page, that I am addicted to brads! I absolutely loved the red brads i used for the skulls! I found the paper at Joanns which i had to buy! I used some jewlery wire for the guitar on the right, but was instructed by Dave that I did't wire it correctly....shows how much I know about guitars! I had a lot of fun doing these pages!

Cupcakes

So I am the maid of honor for my friend Jen's wedding, and at the last minute I had to think of some cute decorations for the bridal shower! I made cupcakes and used the red theme that she has for her wedding by making little decrative circles to stick in the top of the cupcakes. I stamped them, so some said Jen & Mike, and the others had little wedding cakes attached to a red or black dot. I used tooth pics to stick them in. I bought the cupcake stand at joann's, i couldnt pass it up with a 50% of coupon! Next time i will spend more time on making the frosting look good! :) Though there is one cupcake missing on the bottom....i think someone got a little hungry before i could take a pic! :)

A Special Mother's Day Card

Isn't he cute!!! He insisted that he make his mom a mother's day card by himself. Though I helped a little, David picked out everything and I think he did a great job! I was very impressed and a little bit proud too! Not only did he emboss the mother's day stamp, but he even did the shading on the flower too. Too cute!

Breast Cancer Thank You Cards

One of my good friends, Cat, participated in the Revlon Walk for the Cure in LA. As a thak you to the people who donated money for her walk, she wanted to give them small thank you cards with some cookies! Cute idea! So I came up with using the breast cancer ribbon as my theme. I found the stamp at Joanns along with the ribbon and the pink shiny paper. I made a total of 13 cards! Thank you Cat for allowing me to make my first set of cards for such a good cause!

For my birthday, My parents took David, my sister, and I to see Stomp and then to Rick's Dessert Diner in downtown Sacramento. It was a great way to celebrate turning 30. I used the card my parrents gave me as a theme for this page. I used my new Tim Holtz distressed (vintage photo) ink to give all the pics a little dirty look. I might have went a little too crazy with the ink, but i think it turned out nice! I also used some scraps from an old calender for the month and date.

Ok, I have figured out I am now addicted to crafting! I couldnt wait to get home on Friday to start making things! I started with this card, which ended up coming out totally different then what I had started with. Sometimes the best mistakes become the most unique projects. I purchased some of Tim Holtz's distressed ink stamp pads that I have fallen in love with. I went a little crazy with the envelope...but hey, its art right! :)

I learned about 2nd generation stamping from my co-worker Tammy last weekend. I loved the idea so I thought I would make a card with one of the SU sets that I have. I choose pink paper with the SU guava ink. Not my favorite combo, but I continued to make the card, and this is what I came up with. I figured out that its time for me to invest in some more stamp pads, since guava and black is all i have!

I just purchased the Loads of Love set from SU and couldnt wait to put it to use. I made this card for my sister! It was my first time using the SU watercolor pencils with the blender pen filled with water. It was a bit of a challenge but I love learning new things.

I am in love with this card. I made it last night. I found this cute Chandelier stamp at Michaels for $1, what a deal! I embossed it with silver and used my SU thank you stamp to add a sentiment.
